Mohit Makhija

Hi everyone, my name is Mohit Makhija, and I’m running for Business Councillor on the Students Council and General Facilities Council. I am a second-year business student majoring in accounting and minoring in political science. During my time at the University of Alberta, I volunteered at the Tax Clinic, started my own club, and attended events hosted by the BSA, UALC, and UAAC. I believe that the most important issues facing students today are the rising cost of tuition, the lack of support available for classes or for degree planning, and difficulty in networking and finding jobs. I believe we should be working towards solving these problems and improving students' lives.
Owen Pasay

Owen Pasay is a second year BCom student, majoring in Business Economics and Law. Over his first two years, he has been involved in a number of student organizations both inside and outside the School of Business. This includes holding executive positions in both Space Exploration Alberta Robotics, and the Indigenous Business Student’s Association, as well as holding a position as a Marketing Associate for the University of Alberta’s Real Estate Club. He also volunteered with the UASUs “Get Out the Vote” campaign during the last school year, and is currently volunteering as a Tax Reporter with the University of Alberta’s Accounting Club, helping low income families and students file their tax returns.
As a council member on your Students Council, Owen will provide passionate advocacy and trustworthy representation for all students in the Faculty of Business. He believes in transparency, and providing a pathway for all students to participate and have a say in their governance. In furtherance of this, Owen’s goal is to represent the concerns and ideas of all students to the council, and act as a bridge for communication and collaboration between students and the UASU. Alongside this, he will commit to keeping students informed about decisions being made, and the process behind them.
